Repulsing the Monkey, Aug. 25 through Sept. 3, 2015

Repulsing the Monkey at the Kensington Club Aug. 25 - Sept. 3Join us at Jablonski's Bar for a play about Pittsburgh, the Southside Slopes, and the 20-somethings from out of town who want to change it all.   Repulsing the Monkey, a new play by Michael Eichler, focuses on Danny and Janey, who've just inherited Jablonski's and must decide what to do with it. Do they keep a vital neighborhood watering hole alive -- and lose their shirts like their parents did -- or sell the bar, and sell out their neighborhood, to out-of-towners from New York and California? Tickets are available, through Brown Paper Tickets, at: http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/2002157
Playing the role of Jablonski's is the venerable neighborhood watering hole the Kensington Club. So you can see a play about a neighborhood bar in one of San Diego's favorite neighborhood bars. And, yes, drinks will be available.

All performances are at 7:30 p.m. on:
  • Tuesday, August 25
  • Wednesday, August 26
  • Thursday, August 27
  • Tuesday, September 1
  • Wednesday, September 2
  • Thursday, September 3
When Repulsing the Monkey was read recently, there was already a commitment in Pittsburgh to have it performed there this Fall. The response was so positive we have decided not to wait for a theatre partner in San Diego and are producing it ourselves. We are in the process of identifying Co-Producers, who will commit to purchasing six tickets for one of our performances. Co-Producers receive:
  1. Six tickets for $90.00 ($15 per ticket -- a 25% discount)
  2. Reserved booth seating
  3. Co-Producer credit in the Repulsing the Monkey program
  4. Our eternal gratitude

Repulsing the Monkey is a Tai Chi maneuver. Formally called Step Back and Repulse Monkey, it has been elegantly explained, on www.taichido.com: "The posture implies the gentle application of energy. Success lies in retreating because you refuse to use strength against strength. Retreat and then wait for the right time to counter-attack." To find out who's Repulsing the Monkey in a shot-and-beer bar in Pittsburgh, and why, you'll just have to see the show...
